vola Transactions affected at some NETS terminals; company working to restore services

SINGAPORE: NETS-related services at about 5 per cent of the company's terminal network have been affected since Monday morning (Sep 23)vola, with QR, PIN and tap transactions disrupted.

In a Facebook post at 10.12am, NETS advised customers to use alternative forms of payment, such as cash or Singapore Quick Response Codes (SGQR).

“The issue was discovered this morning. We are working to restore the service as soon as possible and apologise for the inconvenience caused,” said the company in response to CNA’s queries.

A CNA reader who works at a retail company and asked to remain anonymous said most of their outlets started experiencing issues processing credit card transactions and performing batch settlements at around 7am.

The issues particularly concerned DBS and POSB cards, and they had not been resolved by Monday afternoon.

“Upon checking with our support vendor, the support vendor has also shared that other merchants have reported similar issues on NETS payment outage," he said.

"Until now, we are still unable to perform NETS and card transactions."

In a Facebook post, DBS said it was informed that payment transactions via some NETS terminals were temporarily unavailable.

“You can continue to use DBS/POSB digibank and PayLah! to scan and pay SGQR codes. You can also make payment via PayNow,” the bank added.

In response to CNA's queries, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) said on Monday evening that it has been in close contact with NETS on their recovery efforts for the affected terminals and timely communication to customers.
