MANILA, Philippines — No police nor any politician helped Alice Guo escape the Philippine jurisdiction, at least according to the internal investigation conducted by the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Sen. Francis Tolentino, who was speaking on behalf of the PNP as the agency’s budget sponsor, bared the matter during the Senate’s marathon plenary debates on the 2025 funding.

Prior to Tolentino’s disclosure, opposition Sen. Risa Hontiveros asked what was the result of the “internal investigation” conducted by the country’s police force.

“There was an investigation and the result was that no member of the Philippine National Police was really involved,” said Tolentino late Wednesday night.

At this point, Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada interjected, particularly asking whether there were politicians involved in the supposed escape.

“Based on your intelligence arm in the police, were there any politicians involved in Alice Guo’s escape?.

“Based on the investigation of Alice Guo in the custodial investigation, no politician involved has been identified,” Tolentino answered.

Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) senior vice president Raul Villanueva earlier bared that there was a former top cop who supposedly received bribes to help Guo and her companions–Shiela and Wesley Guo–escape the country despite being under an immigration lookout bulletin.

In response, Police chief Rommel Marbil said they immediately started investigating all 24 former PNP chiefs to determine if they are involved in the dismissed Bamban mayor’s escape from Philippine jurisdiction.
